Driving the Sustainable Development of Commodity Polymers through Materials Innovation. Commodity polymers play an irreplaceable role in supporting modern industry and improving the quality of human life. However, their massive production, consumption, and disposal have led to increasingly severe plastic pollution, which has become one of the major challenges to global sustainability. Our group is dedicated to developing novel polymeric materials and upgrading strategies through the molecular design of block copolymers, aiming to advance the high-performance enhancement, closed-loop recycling, and sustainable development of commodity polymers. We believe that fundamental basic research can drive materials innovation and ultimately foster the development of a circular plastics economy. If you are passionate about polymer science and aspire to address problems of great scientific and societal significance, we warmly welcome you to join our team!

Research

Focusing on polymeric materials innovation and plastic pollution mitigation, our group conducts research in the following three major directions:
  • Olefin Block Copolymers
Design and synthesis of novel polyolefin-containing block copolymers for high-performance thermoplastic elastomers, multiphase polymer compatibilizers, and advanced functional materials.
  • Upgrading Commodity Polymers via Blocking
Development of new strategies for the direct blocking of commercial polymers to enable the upgraded and value-added utilization of commodity polymers into high-performance block copolymers.
  • Dynamic Block Copolymers
Construction of block copolymer materials featuring dynamic bonds and dynamic interfaces, toward a new generation of sustainable polymeric materials with excellent service performance, recyclable processability, and high performance retention.
